For Mental Peace and Health, Start Living in the Present!

Our lives would be so much simpler if we lived in the present.

Enjoy the moment!

Today’s short post is about a very simple and crucial thing – living in the moment. This is something we tend to forget in our lives because we are too caught up reminiscing the past or anticipating the future. We want to live and know everything in our life, except the present moment.

This distraction builds from the illusion of control. We think we have our lives figured out and we plan our future accordingly. While that’s crucial in matters of operations and basic needs, it might not be the same in a lot of other aspects. When we plan every little thing, we make ourselves inflexible. Any little deviation from the plan sets us off and that’s what ruins things.

And similarly, we think about the past to avoid living in the present. We think that reminiscing would make it better but that’s bullshit. Nothing can change the past – good or bad. The best thing you can do is to take a deep breath and let it go.

So, let this post be a reminder to live in the present more often. When your feelings of losing control or missing memories make you crazy- ground yourself. Take a deep breath, drink some water, and be in the present. Try to center your mind on the present moment and enjoy it. We deflect so many things thinking that they won’t last in the long run. But, experiences don’t have to be long-lasting – they have to be meaningful.

Being in the present moment is a major component of mental wellness. I hope you are able to ground yourself today and enjoy the day as it is.

That’s it for today- thank you for reading! Remember to take deep breaths and keep yourself hydrated!

Keep the calm vibes flowing,

Pranjali
