6 Tips to Detoxify and Rejuvenate Your Body

Your bodily needs are not unimportant.

I have written quite a lot about digital or mental detox on my blog. Today I would like to share my experience of a physical detox. In this period of lockdown especially, I think most of us have gone through the phase of being healthy and then unhealthy a lot of times now. Let’s once again, move towards healthy.

This is not a post about losing weight or cinching your waistline. It’s simply about a healthy detox towards a healthy body. I tried this twice or thrice during these months, and it felt good every time.

This is how you can aid a detox-

Diet

Obviously. You can’t do a detox without changing your diet. It is truly arduous to do this, but it is quite effective.

  1. Water Intake– The first thing I did was to increase my water intake. Keep a bottle with you at all times, and keep yourself hydrated. Another thing here is you can drink green tea, or lemon and honey with warm water. Make sure you’re consuming enough liquids.

  1. Fruits– I can’t emphasize the importance of this. Add fruits to your diet. I substituted my dinner with fruits. It works well for me. You can have them at breakfast, lunch, or as a snack. Fruits are the most natural part of your diet.
  1. Protein intake– Personally, I don’t like to eat pulses much which is the main source of protein. So, to compensate for the lost nutrients, I started drinking quinoa.

It’s like a grain and is full of protein. You can consume it in a lot of different ways- the internet is full of recipes.

  1. Caffeine and dessert– These are two things I stopped consuming. Dessert right after a meal is quite harmful to your stomach. And caffeine- I don’t have to lay out the structure. This was the toughest thing to do out of everything. But, I did see good results, especially in favour of not taking dessert.

Workout

And yes, of course, you have to exercise.

  1. Sweat sesh– Sweating is a necessity for your body. Exercise, yoga, dance, walking, running, skipping rope, HIIT- anything that gets your heart rate up and your body moving; make time for it. Ten to twenty minutes are all you need.
  1. Stretch breaks– The digital lifestyle is restricting our movements. Make sure that after 45-60 minutes, you’re getting out of your chair and walking around. Take a break, stretch your muscles and hydrate.

Sleep

The easiest of all- for me, at least! Get proper sleep. Don’t push yourself to work without enough sleep over the top- you’ll be biting off more than you can chew.

That’s it! The thing is that you don’t have to do all of these things together. Maybe you can just incorporate a few in your daily routine. Baby steps still take you forward.

I hope this post was helpful. Let me know what else would you like to read about in the comments, or any other way of detoxing you may be familiar with!

Keep the healthy vibes flowing!
